Noun
A ghost light is a theater tradition that consists of a vertical pole with a bare light bulb on it, and is placed onstage and left on overnight. It is believed to keep friendly spirits illuminated, and unfriendly spirits at bay, and for practical reasons so people don’t trip over bits of scenery or fall off the stage when entering a dark theater. |
