Cue

Noun

A prompt, often verbal (or could be a lighting change or special effect that happens at a specific moment in the performance), signals an actor or crew member to perform an action. Stage managers are responsible for calling cues, (telling people when to perform an action) which could involve lighting, sound, set changes, projections, or actor entrances. For example, a stage manager would say, “Lights, 75, Go.” Cues are usually preceded by a stand-by or warning to alert the crew that a cue is coming up. For example, “Stand by Lights 75.”
